Spirulina Definition: Spirulina is a type of blue-green microalgae, considered to be a rich source of chlorophyll, protein, essential fatty acids and beta carotene. It has an impressive array of vitamins, minerals and amino acids and is generally used as a tonic, nutritive or blood purifier. Applications: Compromised immune system, liver disease, digestive problems, blood disorders, debilitated conditions, malnutrition, athletic endurance, diabetes and anemia. Recommendations: Spirulina comes in capsules, tablets, powders, flakes, freeze-dried crystals and extracts. Pre-measured packets must be mixed with liquid using a blender.
